Thomas Brendan Jones
Queens County Aide – Ancient Order of Hibernians
Thomas Brendan Jones is one of fourteen children born to the late William and Bridget Agnes (Dundaf) Jones in Enniskillen, Fermanagh. At the urging of his late widowed Mother who raised the younger children on her own and with the escalation of violence, Brendan emigrated to the United States at 18 years of age, and has called Rockaway Beach, N.Y. his home ever since. He is a member of St. Francis de Sales Parish.
Brendan is the Financial Secretary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 21 in Rockaway & Breezy Point. He was honored as the Hibernian Man of The Year 2015 – 2016, and is also a Fourth Degree Member of The Knights of Columbus.
At the early age of 11, Brendan pledged to become a Pioneer. As many know, The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association of the Sacred Heart (PTAA) is an international organization for Roman Catholic teetotallers founded in Ireland. PTAA requires complete abstinence from alcoholic drink from its members, and encourages devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as an aid to resisting the temptation of alcohol.
Brendan is employed at Rogers McMahon Irish House in Rockaway. Upon arriving in the U.S., Brendan thought bartending might not be a good idea with his PTAA devotion. However, after bartending for the past 47 years, it seems it has been a good career.
Brendan lives in Rockaway with his wife Carol and they have four children, Colm, Brendan, Kelly and Sandra.
