Jack McCarrick, the eldest of seven children, was born on Washington Avenue in the Bronx. At the age of four, his family relocated to Silver Beach. Jack’s strong Irish roots trace back to his parents. His father, John McCarrick, hails from County Sligo, and his mother, Anne (née McHale), was born in County Mayo.
Jack and his six sisters embarked on their educational journey at St. Frances de Chantal School. After graduating, Jack attended Cardinal Spellman High School, where he distinguished himself academically. In 1975, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics from Manhattan College.
Upon graduation, Jack began his career in the Data Processing division of the New York City Transit Authority, where he worked for nine years. In 1985, he transitioned into a consulting role in Data Processing/Management Information Systems. He continues to provide services to a diverse range of clients, including Guy Carpenter, Con Edison, the United Nations, Sharp Electronics, CUNY, Memorial Sloan Kettering and Canon USA, among others.
As a man of faith, Jack has been deeply committed to his parish of St. Frances de Chantal since 1967. He has been a member of the Nocturnal Adoration and Holy Name (HNS) Societies, even serving as a past HNS President. He was the captain of the parish Men’s Retreat movement for more than 50-years and volunteered at the Cardinal Spellman Retreat House, setting up their computer system and serving on their executive board. Since 1990, he has chaired nearly eighty (80) parish blood drives. A music lover, Jack has been a member of the Parish Choir, even performing at the Vatican for Pope Benedict in 2008. He also plays the Irish traditional wood flute at parish functions.
Jack is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 306 and AOH Division 4/Bronx County, where he currently serves as President. He is also the Secretary for the New York Archdiocesan Holy Name Society. For more than thirty years, Jack has served as an officer of the Throggs Neck Homeowners Association.
Jack met and married Marie Heaney, a fellow graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School. They purchased a home in Throggs Neck, where they raised their three children, Brendan, Claire and Andrew. Today, their family includes four beloved grandchildren, Thomas, Kelsey and twins Kayla and Kaitlin, who are the joy of Jack’s life.
