Tom Tuffy grew up in Culleens, County Sligo, Ireland, and is the second of four children born to Bridie (nee O’Neill) and Paul Tuffy. He attended the local parochial elementary school and high school and graduated with a degree from St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth. After graduating college in 1985, Tom emigrated to the United States and started a business and for the past 25 years, he has owned and operated the construction company, TG Tuffy Interiors, Inc. Tom Tuffy is a member of the County Sligo Social & Benevolent Association of New York for more than 30 years, and he has been involved at all levels of the organization including serving as President for two terms. He served as a delegate to the United Irish Counties Association for the Sligo Association for more than 15 years and in 2018 he was elected President of the UICA and in 2020, Tom was elected to the UICANY’s Board of Directors. In 2019, Tom Tuffy was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Inc. and is also a member of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Celebration Committee.
Tom Tuffy resides in Yonkers with his wife, Catherine (nee Sheehan), and their two children, Ronan and Lauren.
